    Default Kentucky Lake Drawdown?

I have been hearing rumors, from neighbors at the Lake, that Kentucky Lake will be drawn down several feet below the normal winter pool for about 2 months this Winter so that work can be completed on the new lock at Kentucky Dam. Has anyone else heard this? If this were true I can't imagine the problems it would cause with Marinas, Ramp use would be impossible,Riverboat traffic etc. I have searched the web and I can't find any Info on this, so I'm hoping that it is just a rumor. One lady that live's in the Rocky Point area said she heard about it on the news. For the time being I'm stuck at home in Bullitt County nursing a knee injury, and can't find any reliable Info to support this. If anyone knows anything about this I would appreciate the Info, Thanks.

    Default bogus rumor

I heard the same rumor and called the corp of engineers. They informed me that it was a rumor and if it was true they would have heard something alot sooner.
I live on Barkley Lake and was extremely worried. However, I am completely convinced that it is a just a rumor now that I have talked to the corp.

They are just doing earth work on the new lock. It will be years before they even get close to finishing---if the government stays solvent and has the $$ to finish it.

    Cool Ain't Gonna Happen

It's a rumor! There is now way they're gonna do that. If they did, barge traffic up the Tn. river would have to be rerouted up the Ten-Tom adding $1000's to transportation costs. Also it would cut off traffic on the Cumberland to Nashville.

They have a coffer dam (make shift dam) built on the lake side of the new chamber to hold the lake water back out of the way. No need to drop the lake.

I'm a towboat pilot and run these rivers. I have heard nothing about this from a credible source. When they built the new chamber at Pickwick they didn't lower Pickwick lake.

Tell the folks that are spreading this rumor to chill out. It ain't hap'n!!! Trust me.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear, I felt like it was just a rumor, but with so many people spreading it, I was beginning to wonder if there was anything to it.
