Cool Possible new world record Crappie

I talked to a friend of mine that is a guide on Ky. Lake 2 days. He told me that 1 of our neighbors at the campground old him that there had been a 7# plus crappie caught in the backwater below Wickliff, Ky. I didn't post anything cause you here that stuff all the time.

My son sent me an email yesterday and said that Brother Romain (A pastor at a local church) showed him a picture of the fish and said it was indeed true. My son also said that 1 of his guys at work is kin to the guy that caught it. It may have been caught on a trot line though. The guy said that Bass Pro Shop had offered $100,000 for the fish. I can't confirm this though.

I hope that they kept the fish alive. I'll let you know if I hear anything more.

    A 7# crappie?

Come on, now. That's 2# or more bigger than the existing record.

Wonder how much weight a camera adds to fish?

As they say, being on tv it seems to add 10 lbs!

Need a picture before this story gets out of control! Or a stream of crappie rigs start heading to Ballard county in search of its family members!:D

My brother said he saw a picture of it today, said it is a massive fish. He doesn't fish much and said he couldn't say for sure, but was the biggest crappie he had seen.

The 4 pound black crappie I mounted a few years ago that is displayed at KY Lake Outdoors in Calvert City was almost 21 inches long. You could have read the news paper thru it since it was so skinny. I have been told it was longer than the current world record black crappie.

Did the 4#er come out of KY lake? I would love to catch a crappie big enough to have it mounted.

They caught a 3 pound 14 ounce crappie out of KY Lake either this year or last year.

It was on the paris landing website.

3+ pounds is what I am looking for to have one mounted. I am also hoping for a 4+ pound sauger before my time is up.
