Back in the 50's and early 60's McNeely was a pay lake and I fished there as a youngster. They kept it stocked and the cats were eager to bite. After it closed the lake went DOWN hill became algae and scum covered, it even had a smell to it. Enter the Gov. as it was given to the parks dept. and since then they have rehabilitated it into a nice park and fishing hole for kids and families. Basically shore fishing but there is a small ramp there to put in johns and other small boats, trolling motor only. However when the water is up I have seen a couple of 17 or 18' bass type boats on it, don't know how much trouble they had getting in, but I'l bet it wasn't easy.
that's what I know about the lake, but I haven't been there for several years.
smiles are contagious, spread them around
