I have best luck fishing ledges 22ft then jumps to 15ft but i am fishing only 8ft to 14ft deep( using 8 poles). My buddy fishes the opposite side of the channel where it may go from 28ft to 20ft then to 15ft flat. Hope this helps. We will be back down Fri, Sat and Sun. Good luck to all.
I was in the area Fri in the big bend from the dock and seen alot of boats out in the middle fishing. Always wondered if they was fishing the flats or the channel. Is there alot of structure in that area and was you using minnows?

Have not tried it yet. Right now with the water low most of our spots is out of the water. When they raise it to summer pool we will be hitting it. We have tried the mouth out where it meets the main channel but only small ones. When we come down Fri morning we will run up for a while and test to see whats hitting. We'll spend about a half a day checking. After that we'll decide where we will fish the rest of the weekend. Good luck to all.

If you are talking about the area from Holmesbend to the first bend up to whiteoak creek in that long straight way. Then yes they were fishing the flats.3/4 of that straight is nothing but a flat. I think they were starting at about whiteoak and drifting down but the channel cuts across the middle. But most were fishing in 15ft to 8ft. There is some brush and stick ups but it is scattered. More flat than structure. We was using minnows. Some minnows tipped with wax worms. Caught only a few on jigs. Good luck to all
