I have been threatening to try it for 2 years now and just never have done it. You wouldn't have to put up with near as much boat traffic, for sure.

How do you go about it? Is it all casting?
From what I have seen, it is stationary fishing with enough light to see your rod tips or floats.
This is my first post so bear with me. i like to anchor over a brush pile and set out floating lights. then i tight line a double rig of minnows on each pole then lean back and pour a cup of coffee that i usually don't get to drink because of all the bites on dale hollow

I like to find the shad before setting up on them. Most the time will set up in 20 to 30 feet of water, either anchor down or tied up to some type of tree. Got a green flouescent light that is sumerged into the water a foot or two. I used my rod holders that is for spider rigging, usually used around four poles, beleive me if there is any fish around you will stay mighty busy. Mostly used minnows, tight lining and sometimes able to take them with a jig. Most the time the fish will come from 4 to12 feet. In the summer time bugs can get pretty bad,I take my Thermocell with me and that will take care of the biting insects.

We caught a couple really good crappie last summer fishing under the lights on some main lake drops bouncing jigs like we would use under the bridges. One night I lost all my electronics right after we got onto the fish and I couldn't mark the spot on my GPS. Needless to say, I didn't spend any more time out there than it took to get back to the ramp with no electronics or running lights on KY Lake in the summer time. It was nothing that a total rebuild under my dash didn't fix.
I do know they can be caught under the lights. I would think a good brushpile or stake bead on a deep drop would produce good catches.

I luv fishing under the lights. I hang lanterns on one side and sink green lights on the other. I have caught some of the best limits of my life under the lights. It is relaxing and can be really productive.
"You should have been here yesterday!!!
