Default Best GPS/Fish Finder for the money

The old fisheasy fishfinder has finally bit the dust and I'm thinking of purchasing a new Gps/depthfinder combo that won't break the bank and works pretty well. Any suggestions? They all seem pretty expensive.

I have a HB 787C2i on the console of my boat, and have been real pleased with it. On the front, right now I'm running an Eagle 640C. I bought it to replace an Eagle 480, the mount and all were compatible. Verdict still out on it. I think for the money, it's a pretty decent unit. I bought it from Wally World for around $500.00.

I think eventually, I'll end up with some kind of side-imaging at the console and move the 787 up front and try to link them. I think that is possible. Just not possible for me to afford it right now.

I think for the customer service aspects, I would go with a bird product.

Since the HDS units came out you can find pretty good deals on 520 model lowrances if you look around. I have the 527c df with internal gps and aside from the new side imaging units its hard to beat. Get it set right and its amazing what it can do for ya. I can see fish near the bottom and and watch a 1/16 oz jig drop right down to their face. Spider rigging I can til tranducer forward and track depth by looking at my sinkers and minnows on the sonar and put em' right in front of the fish. Ive heard a lot of bad things about lowrance customer service though, so take your time and get a unit thats solid and user friendly.
