    Default Smithland tailwaters

Was thinking about heading down to Smithland Dam on Sunday. Am I crazy? Will there be open water? How has the sauger fishing been? I haveabout a 2 hour drive, so I don't want to make the drive and have a frozen boat ramp.

    Thanks!

the low saturday night they are calling for 4 deg. Haven't heard of any sauger action yet but they should be catching if the water isn't too high.
Take you kids fishing today!!! They will be grown (and married and have children of their on) tomorrow. Then you can take your GRANDKIDS!

Mike, the water is dropping in the river right now. If this continues, the sauger fishing at Smithland could get good next week. As of now, the water remains unfrozen on the river.
