I'm waiting for it to cool down just a little more myself.
Has anyone been to the river lately or heard of anyone having any luck catchin crappie w/ any size to em'. Was hoping the fishing will get better soon if it hasnt already. If it was slow I was thinkin about cave run instead. Would really like to go to the river tho, got some new line I wanna try in the nasty stuff

What are the River temps now? How cool does the water have to be for the crappie to start turning on? What are some good creeks you fish? You can pm if you want and I'll share some info.

WE NEED MORE COWBELL
I checked the daily info from corps of engineers website and the river was droppping slowly and around 80-79 deg. Id say fishin be better when it around 70 and below, but ill prob go before that. Went to cave run yesterday morn and caught some nice white crappie in pretty deep water, and lotsa small white bass(good thing for the future) and a channel cat. Lotsa surface acticvity early then w/ shad and then they went deep and I forgot my lowrance!!!

Hey Slabber, your right when you say the river temp needs to drop. I went last tuesday and caught 9 keepers (9.5-10.5"). The main river temp was 77 degrees. I would guess Sept 20th to be when the crappie will start moving back in the creeks in good numbers. October is uaually my favorite month to crappie fish, so it won't be long. I ended up throwing that small mess of fish back to swim again.
