Congratulations and good luck on your project
Well, due to a lot of scheming, researching, and a Black Friday sale, I’ve got a new cold weather project.
Objective:
To build a portable livescope that will be primarily used on my kayak but have the option to take along on the big boat.
More to come as I figure out placement and rigging.
Would welcome any pictures of others livescope setups on kayaks.

Yup, congrats on the purchase. I will try to get together something to show my setup on the kayak. I wanted it portable and easily removable from kayak. A bunch of guys have done the ammo can install but I used plexiglass for mine.

Definitely would like to see. Right now I’m planning to use the Magellan dry box for battery, gls10 and all the wires. Maybe a couple of power outlets and switches.
The tinkering and planning part is kinda fun for me………..until I get frustrated and nothing works as planned. Lol

I look forward to seeing it when you finish
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Here are some pics from when I was building mine. I used a piece of plexiglass and some metal bar to mount the black box to. I made hooks to hang this on the back of my kayak seat base.
there is a notch to keep it centered in kayak at the bottom of plexiglass
with these hooks I could easily remove from kayak and then hang it on the side of my milk crate kayak bag for transport.
this is completed setup. My cables are just twist tied to boonedox bar. I use alligator clips to hook to my battery which is in my milk crate bag.
my pvc pole is mounted by Ram mounts on my track and right near my steering.
Probably not as neat as an all inclusive ammo can but it works for me in the space I have.

Very nicely done SD! I never thought of not using a box. Definitely takes up less space as well.
Thanks for sharing

Thanks. I just wanted it to fit the space available behind my seat. The ammo can idea is a good one but it would force me to move my crate which I didn’t want to do. So I figured out another way. Works for me anyway.
I also love the way my pole swings in and lays on the boonedox for transportation too. Completely out of the way and in line with everything else.

I’m probably going to heavy but here’s where I am so far.
Magellan 19qt dry box fitted with gls10, amped outdoor 14.8v 19ah battery, with all the cables in the box. Would have fit in a 13qt but wanted the space for cables and another battery to run parallel if on long trip.
Thought being to have a ram ball on top of the box for chart and a ram ball on side for ducer pole. Take it in the big boat and set it in front of you as a complete portable package.
Put a ram ball on each side of the yak to put the chart on 1 side and pole on other with power box behind my seat.
More to come.

Very nice looks good. Sounds like you have it figured out.
