I have a 2003 4 stroke merc , used ethanol in it when I first got it ( didn't realize what ethanol in the gas would do ) it distroyed the the fuel line from tank to engine . The plastic inner liner on the hose was tiny flakes .

I have been using E-10 for over 15 years in my four stroke boat motors I use Marine Stabil and I installed a water separator fuel filter that I change once a yaer....no problems. Click on this link for a good read. Crappie Masters Tournament Trail | Renewable Fuels Association
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

That would be worth looking into.
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
What a lot of folks don’t consider Is that if you get ethanol free gas out of a pump that isn’t dedicated to just ethanol free fuel you get what ever gas that was pumped on the previous purchase from the gate vale to the pump. According to the distance and the size of the line that could be 2-3 gallons or more . Despite what many say i will not run anything other than ethanol free fuel from a dedicated pump in my boat motor , lawn mower ,weed eater, chainsaw, garden tiller etc. I have saw what untreated ethanol gas looks like after setting for a while it’s the consistency of apple jelly and about the same color!

I have one bud that ONLY uses gas in his really old boat motors that is Just gas /alcohol free , one station sells it here and he says if he puts ANY regular old local gas in any tank from the other stations locally , he will be rebuilding the carb in a few weeks of using it .
I have another bud that insists on running all lines on generator engines dry when you put them up after use to avoid this exact same issue and he is a small engine repair guy ....
