It’s been a couple seasons since I posted about using flex seal on my 1987 bass hunter boat. The seam that seals the top and bottom sections had degraded and needed attention a couple times a year.
I would apply silicone at the beginning, and mid season, but still needed to drain several cups of water out of the hollow shell after a few trips.A couple years ago I removed and wire brushed the seam of silicone, and applied the brush on flex seal,I also had a few small cracks in various locations in the interior sections of the boat that I covered as well.
Today I’m happy to report,The seal around the boat has held up well with no signs of degrading and no leaks. The interior fractures are also holding up very well with no indication of leakage.I use this little boat for trapping on small water, and cat fishing,so it sees some rigorous handling.
I must mention,I installed a 3/4” treated plywood floor to protect the boat floor from the abuse of trapping, but may change over to the snap together mats...any pros or cons on this type of flooring,I’d be interested in hearing, thanks, fish on!
