Finally got my Yak the way I want it to test. Took it to the lake, across town to test, and discovered I wasn't as ready as I thought. I put my out riggers on using U bolt and while I thought they were tight enough they weren't. when pushing off from shore the fenders went vertical and stayed there till I was able to get out and rotate the back right. this happened twice, so I came home to figure a way to fix this. think I'll put a pin like for a tow hitch or a bolt in the middle so that part, main shaft, can't rotate. Also tightened the U-bolts some more. That should keep the shaft from rotating. Can't do nothing today as it's pouring rain and lightening. Hopefully in the next day or two we'll try it again.

I'll get some posted up as soon as I can get outside and get some. Right now it's raining pretty hard...

As promised here's some picks as it is now, as I tested yesterday...
and here's how I put it on...I must say for the trials/testing none of the joints were glued in place. Probably should have glued the top 90* fitting in place. Also the main pvc pipe that connects both sides is a bit long, (wont fit in Pick-up bed), so that's going to get shortened some, and then all connections glued. The deck hatch behind the seat was added primarily for access to tighten the U-bolts holding the PVC to the yak, and will have a milk crate attached over it when fishing with a bunji strap to hold it in place. I also will be attaching a couple of rod holders so I wont be loosing any overboard. I have a small 12v5ah battery that fits in a small plastic box under the seat to power the FF. Also going to look at some way of water proofing the factory hatch as it's held in place with an elastic strap and it leaks when it rains and the yak isn't upside down. Future mods will include permanently attaching the depth sounder head unit and finding a better way to attach the screen unit with-in reach. But this is what it is for now. Thanks for looking.

Pretty cool outriggers! Well done.
Thank you SuperDave, but I think they are a tad bit long...going to shorten them maybe 8 inches or so on each side, after
I measure the width of the inside of the tailgate opening so it will fit inside of truck bed...

Good idea on the out riggers...Yeh, they do not have to be out very far at all....half that distance would work fine
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Thanks "G", when I started it I wanted to make sure it didn't flip me. But I did notice that the pipe did bend up more than I liked, as well as not fitting in the truck...

I am getting ready to buy my first kayak and am considering the Scotty stabilizers (outrigger). They seem a bit pricey. I'm curious what you cash outlay was to do the outriggers the way you did.

OK, I bought the 6" fenders at Academy Sports for 11.99 ea, the PVC is 3/4 inch I got it and the fittings at Lowes. The pipe was 1o' long for 8.98, each 90* was .98 ea. and the T's were 1.18 each which without Tax came to $36.12 total. seemed cheaper than a kit. The PVC prep and glue I already had...Hope this helps.
If I was to do it again, I would probably go with 1" pipe for more rigidity...
