Default Happy with my little Sportsman

About a month ago I picked up my little Sun Dolphin Sportsman boat and haven’t looked back! I sold my Eagle Talon and Vibe kayaks because they hurt my back sitting low for so long, and now I can sit and stand comfortably while fishing. Ready to catch all kinds of fish now!Name: CB5CD94A-A455-4C8A-81D1-ADAB1C4AE8BF.jpg

Looks good. How are you going to power it?

I have a 40 pound thrust Minn Kota trolling motor that does a pretty decent job getting it around. A kayak paddle doesn’t do a bad job with it, too.

Nice rig. Find an old dead TM and strip it of most everything and add a blade as a tiller to clamp on the back. TM’s are more efficient from the front and this keeps the back from blowing around. I enjoyed mine, have fun with it.

Are you going to rig it for spider fishing? If you are, how do you plan on doing it? Pop

I think he is talking about a tiller/rudder. Something along the lines of this YouTube
That would help keep the tail end from wagging on a windy day.

Pop is talking about using more than one pole at a time, called spider rigging, which you could do.

Being able to stand up now and again makes a long day fishing much more pleasant.

Not to mention much easier for #1 when the occasion calls for it.

I love the idea of a yak, but prefer the practicality of a small boat.
