    Default Lifetime Kayak

OK I am looking at getting another kayak and was wondering if anyone has a Lifetime Lancer Kayak and if so what are your thoughts on it. The Lancer is a sit in kayak and will be used mostly for kayaking for pleasure not for fishing not saying I wouldn't fish out of it but my other kayak is set up for fishing. All reviews I read on line are mostly good. All opinions would be appreciated.

    Default Lifetime Kayak

I have had about 5 kayaks and only one is a sit in. Old town dirigio. It is by far the lightest and fastest I've ever owned- a real joy to paddle and explore with. Sux for fishing and not what I would call stable when getting in or out. But for its intended use - it's perfect The lancer looks similar. Knowing what I know, if it was me, I would find a used dirigio if possible

my friend that introduced me to kayaking also has the Old Town Dirigo 11'. I agree that it's a pleasure to paddle, but I opted for the Old Town Vapor 10 Angler. Bigger cockpit and the 'angler' model made it better for fishing (rod holders, cockpit goodies, rear hatch and an anchor trolley - but I like the fact that it's really easy to paddle, tracks well and is fast. But can't help you on the Lancer. Sorry. Good luck..

How is the stability of the Vapor?

Well - it's my first Kayak so I have limited exposure to the others out there, but I guess I'd say as a novice yaker, it's very good. I'm 6' and about 195 (age 58) - I've not had any issues, scares or anything. but then - I've only taken it out in warm, calm weather so far. (well, except for duck season, when I've used it to retrieve birds) I love the huge open cockpit and have plenty of room compared to the cheap Sun Dolphin I bought as a 'loaner' to others. I would like to get a sit on top sometime - if I fully commit to this, but the main reason I got these is to keep it extremely simple and lightweight. I need to be able to carry it into some remote areas (or steep hills) so I appreciate the very light weight. I think they're both under 45 lbs. I added in an LL Bean Seat Backer (I think it's called) and it makes it extremely comfy...
The other boat - I just put a seat cushion down and added a foam pad for the back. Also very comfortable - but either way - I'm only spending 2-3 hours a time - not pulling all day trips...
