Thread: Trip length

I've gone 12hrs. But I have a Jackson Big Rig with an air cushion on my seat!

Was out today from 6-12. Little stiff getting out but the seat in the Sea Ghost helps a lot.

Can see where a air cushion or a pad would help though for longer trips. That mesh starts to bite after you get rained on.

If I can't catch a mess in 4 hours, I'll come back tomorrow. Retirement is awesome.

7 hours is a long time not to get up and move around a bit. I wouldn't want to even drive 7 hours in a car/truck without getting out and stretching my legs a little. It's not so much a matter of "have to" or if I can verses "want to"!

I'm about ready for a stretch while fishing in a kayak after about 3 hours. Unless the fishing is really turned on, I like to head back to the camp site and grab a bite to eat and re-evaluate the fish movement and my next plan of action and head back out for the remainder of the evening. Fishing in my larger 1754 Grizzly (it's for sale by the way! http://www.crappie.com/crappie/perso...zzly-jon-boat/ ), time is limited to the amount of food and drinks I pack. But with kayak fishing, 3-4 hours max. That stretch and walk around makes the remaining fishing time much more enjoyable for me.

Being able to go to the bank and take a break is one of the pluses of kayak fishing. If I plan to fish for over half a day I will have a lunch with me and also carry a small stove with pots and pans (small backpacking kind ), good hot soup will do wonders for you on the cold days.

My normal outing is probably 3-4 hours but I have made 6 to 8 hour trips without getting out of the kayak.

I stand up and stretch my legs about every 45 minutes. Depending on what I am fishing for, sometimes I have to sit down to rest every 45 minutes or so. Having a kayak that is easily stand-able and that also has a nice comfortable and supportable seat that is tall helps out. I have gone as long as 16 hours without leaving the kayak (multi-day trip and need to make up some river miles due to previous days poor weather).
