    Default Kayak transport

I have a ladder rack like this.
650 LB 2-BAR ADJUSTABLE TRUCK LADDER RACK PICK UP UNIVERSAL LUMBER KAYAK UTILITY | eBay

It's light weight metal, I transport 2 kayaks on top. I want to add another rack to transport another 2 kayaks. Mine cost less than $70. You know anyone in the Memphis midsouth area that would add on to this for about half that price?

I went to one shop today with my truck. The guy looked at what I have and what I want. Said $150.
    I'll look elsewhere, maybe PVC.

Stacking them on their edge, should get you 4 or 5 across then. A short vertical bar is helpful but not totally necessary.

    bfish, thanks for the idea.
The center pipe on my ladder rack slides into the outer pipes, setscrews hold it in place for width. I can get a pipe, sleeve that will slide over the center pipe and make a setscrew for it to stay in one position, up. Weld a ring for straps and a pipe to the sleeve, the height a bit higher than the kayaks. Weld a ring to the top for straps to go through. One strap, front and rear would hold 2 yaks in place. A yak could be added to each side, strapped to the center yaks and rack.
Now to look through my stash for the right size pipe.

Well I looked, all my pipe is 1 1/4" and smaller or 2" and larger. I need 1 1/2" so to the store I go. I bought a 1 1/2X10" nipple, cut the threaded ends off and cut it in half, for 2 pieces 4" long. Had to buy 2 14mmX1" bolts and 3 14mm nuts, they will match the other bolts on the rack. The upright pipe will be 1" from and old dog kennel 24" long. Now to find my long link chain to cut for eyes on the bolts.
Waiting on contractor that built my son's house. They installed a dryer recept. where the welder will be plugged in.
