My worst was when I was trying to do a fall time surf launch (ocean) off a beach to go striper fishing by Montauk Point here in NY, and I kept getting capsized by the waves into the 50-60 degree water. After the 6th or 7th time, I almost made it, but my timing was off and I got hit by a big wave that flipped me end over end. As I was flailing around in the wash, another wave took my now flooded kayak, and dropped it on my head almost knocking me out and pinning me to the bottom underwater for what seemed like an eternity. My PFD was the only thing that brought me back to the surface as I had no idea which way was up. After I started to collect my gear and pack up, a couple from the crowd of onlookers on the beach came up to me and the woman held out a mirror - I saw blood running down the side of my head. I was pretty banged up as well as was my gear. LOL
I did make it out the next day to hit a few bluefish/striper blitzes, and caught some nice fish!!!
