    Default Panfish Mayhem

This might sound like a tall fishing tale, but I swear it is true. Yesterday was by far, the best crappie and bluegill fishing day I have ever had the opportunity to experience. With the wind switching to the North/North East overnight, and a bit of a cold front coming in, I wasn't sure how the bite was going to be. Well that answer came quickly as my first two attempts at using two rod and reel rigs was answered with four bluegills between 7 1/2 and 8 1/2 inches in less than three minutes. For the following six hours I was limited to using just one rod and reel as the fish were on a feeding frenzy that lasted the entire six hours. One good bluegill after another slammed my purple micro jig and Berkley Gulp Alive minnow combination as I drifted it through the weed beds on Houghton Lake. At noon, after having already landed over 200 bluegills, I took a short lunch break before heading to a spot where I usually pick up a few decent crappies. My first 25 casts put 25 crappies in my kayak, and it continued like that for the next couple hours. At one point I timed it to see just how crazy the bite was, and in 4 minutes I caught 13 fish. The only real bummer of the day was that when I reached my first spot, after having paddled over a mile, I realized that my micro SD card adapter for my camera was in my computer at home so I wasn't able to do any filming, but that bummer was short lived with the way the fish were biting. At the end of the day, after six and a half hours of panfish mayhem, and for the first time in my life, I was tired of reeling in fish, my final count was 251 bluegills, 118 crappies,13 largemouth bass, 2 rockbass, and one big walleye lost. It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D

All I can say is next time call me it would be worth the drive from Alabama. Sounds like you had a great day. I would like to follow you and Ditch Basser down here in Alabama around for a few days.....you are both 2 of the best. Great job. Like my old fishing buddy says " They were biting so good that day Flintcreek could have caught 1 or 2".

    Congrats.

They ain't a limit on fish there, we would be busted here in South Carolina if we took that many fish in a day.
