Default Kayak Depth Finder DSI mounting

Hey there, I'm looking for some wisdom doing a Hull mount with duct seal putty for my Lowrance Mark 4 DSI . I currently have the transducer mounted with a Lowrance scupper mount on my Ascend FS-12T. The DF has to sit I the water at a slight angle based on the way the scupper holes are.

My thought was to do a Hull mount with duct seal ( as I've seen on several threads) . I've noticed it's common for people to mention Side Imaging not working properly doing a hull mount, but would down imaging be hindered as well? If there is interference with DI quality, are there ways to minimize it? Any knowledge would be appreciated!

I have read where one guy did the duct seal/plumbers putty with DI and he stated there was some degrading of the signal but DI was still functional. I don't remember him mentioning SI. I would guess it would depend on the install and if you got somewhat lucky on ducer placement over a "thin" spot in the hull which might help on the signal return. Take some screen shots before and after and post 'em.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

This subject has been discussed much on the nucanoe forum.other than a degree or two variation in water temp reading, those who use the plumbers putty inside the haul have been pleased with the results.I myself built a dashboard that incorporates an adjustable transducer mount over the side of my nucanoe.
