Default Good fishing kayak under 1000

I currently have a 10 ft heritage . I enjoy it but wanting something more stable and can accessorize a little more without putting holes. I can stand in the heritage but not comfortably. Really wanting to stand and fish with little more ease.not wanting I real long one either. Mostly fish lakes and calm rivers but have taken it down chattooga a couple times.. Would love to inlet fish also

Just got a BPS flyer in the mail yesterday. They have the Ascend, FS128T on sale for 799.99. SOT and looks like a nice Kayak from someone who knows nothing about them.

I bought 2 used Hobie Maui's last year that I really enjoy, but would not stand to fish. It is stable, but not that stable in my opinion (to allow standing). The reason for this reply to your post is to mention rod holders. I recently won a couple of Stealth rod holders in a drawing. Although I haven't installed them, I see them as being a great idea. I am going to mount them on my boat, and if they work as good as I think they will, I am going to buy a couple of kayak mounts so I can move them from the boat to the yak.

Take a look at the Wilderness Rides, the 115 & 135. I have the 115 and can stand in it even with my unbalanced body.

The 115 would be my choice if I could ever get the wife to buy in.

I have a WS Commander. It's a hybrid design so you have lots of room. It has tracks on the top and down the sides for accessories. Standing is very easy I even throw a cast net from it. Retail on a 12 ft is about $1000. I have a 14 ft they run $1100. Angler packages are more but I wanted to accessorize mine myself

My priorities are different. A top quality seat is the #1 must have for me. And since I have back problems and balance issues, standing up isn't something I do in a kayak.

I really like the Jackson Kilroy, everything but the price. So I picked up a Jackson Tripper 12 which is the stripped down version of the Kilroy. I added some yak attack rails and some non kid flooring, and I'm good to go. The Tripper 12 is $999 new.

If standing is at the top of the list for you, look at the Nucanoe Frontier 12 and it's options. The WS Ride 115 is a good choice as well. GL
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
