    Default Great Training, Great Fishing

So yesterday morning, while loading my kayak for another training session in preparation for my 120 mile paddle coming in two weeks, I decided to include take some panfishing gear for when I finished. I haven't fished much this year do to all the training, so we haven't had very many fish dinners, and I have been wanting some fresh fish.
Well the training session, five sprints of one mile each, went great and before I knew it I was sitting on some open water that just happened to loaded with feeding bluegills, crappie, and white bass. In just over an hour I had a good limit on my stringer, plus one white bass to take home and try since we have never eaten them, and at 11 inches, it had a decent size filet on it.
Schools of white bass. crappies, and gills in the 8 - 11 inch range, were surface feeding and were eager to take my bait.

It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D

Thanks RR. It was a great morning, but that will be my last fishing trip before my crossing of the state. And no worries on the energy, I have all I need and plenty to spare, or at least I think I do. Since I am the only person making this journey I don't have to consider beating anyone, all I want to do is make it a little quicker than I did the first time I made this trek. At just over 220 miles, it's a long, grueling journey to tackle without sleep, but I am more confident that I will make it this time than I was the first. That time it took me just over 39 hours nonstop, so I'm hoping to best that by a little, and in the mean time I have already raised over $700 to go toward helping disabled veterans enjoy outdoor activities at absolutely no cost to them. If you are interested in how I am doing on my journey, you can follow along on my fundraiser facebook page at Michigan Coast To Coast For Disabled Veterans. From the time I start, at 6:00am on Saturday September 12, until the time I finish, sometime late Sunday the 13th, my family/support team will be posting live updates, photos, and videos as I make my way across the state. Here's a look at my route, with some of the towns, that I will be riding past, and several bridges and dams that I will be paddling under or portaging over.
