I have used old window weights before. They worked pretty good but were a little heavy.
Who has a picture of their homemade anchor for your yak?
I'm thinking of drilling 2 holes through an 8 oz bank sinker and centering a 4 to 6" all thread in them. Maybe tie 1 or 2 more sinkers to it. I guess that will depend on the current, winds and size of yak.

I use a 20" length of chain (med. heavy) & inserted into 1/2 of a bicycle tire tube & used 2 big heavy duty zip ties
to attach to a carabiner. Weighs less than 2lbs. IME easy & quiet in my yak, & snag-free so far.
As it drags in the mud on the bottom, I think it adds a little more tension/weight, but will still move in a emergency or big wave.

homemade anchor for your yak?
If you GOOGLE this question, you will find many variations.
Good Luck.
I just made an anchor for my yak,it is an 8 lb bolt, with a small u- bolt welded on the no wrench end.i will try and post a pic tonight.I also bought a 12' extension painters pole,it works fantastic as a stake out pole.
I used one of my wife's exercise weights/dumbells in the 2-5# size on some rope.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
Same as jimp, 3 lb dumbell.

Short bolt is 8 lbs, long bolt is 6 lbs. after a couple store bought anchors, these work the best for me.
I tied a rock to the end of a rope I used it for about a year before I lost the rock and had to tie on another.
Those bolts should hold ya in place.
