Lordy, I've never lost a home made anchor on my big boat even hung out at 250 feet in the river and it weighs 3 lbs.
I don't plan on using a rope on this one, 30 w mono line.
    Back when I was working I could have got some bolts 1 1/2" x 4", 6", 10". I made a post driver with a 6" bolt and pipe.

I know about the hard to find burlap feed bags and rocks. I could use a plastic drink bottle or jug filled with rocks and sand.
Just looking for something small. If I had a welder I could make a great one.

Try this, take a large butter bowl, fill it with cement, and insert an eyebolt in the center ( I put a nut on the eyebolt to help the bolt remain embedded, and solid ). once the cement is dry, peel away the butter bowl, walla!a nice cheap anchor.

I got with my son today. Since we will be on a large lake we will use the 1 lb cornbread stick mold ingot lead. Drill 3- 1/4" holes in it. One hole for the cord and 2 holes for 1/4X6" stove bolts. If one won't hold us over a spot 2 ought too, and they won't take up a lot of space in the yaks.

Old window weights work perfect, we used them for years in 14ft wooden john boats we built at home. Welded 5/8" bolts in 5 spots on the bottom and used them to drag up a trotline or hoop net. And also anchor the boat with. 16" long and works perfect.

I hope Bay Springs doesn't require that much weight to hold a kayak over structure.

If you want small you can gather a few 1x4's and fashion them to make a small pyramid. Then collect a few wheel weights and an eye bolt with a couple of nuts and washers. Melt the lead, pour it into the mold and immediately add the eye bolt and you should be done. I used a peanut can with about 5 or 6 lbs of lead in the canoe years back and it worked great and was small and easy to store. The kayak would be easier to hold and wouldn't need as much weight. You get the idea, have fun with it.

Last minute loading and checking everything before locking up. My depth finder and 7 life jackets are missing out of the camper. 4 of the jackets still had the store bought tag on them. Ladies small, Ladies medium and 5 adult large. The depth finder is a Hummingbird II Fishing buddy.
