    Default Old jet ski hull

Has anyone taken an old jet ski hull and converted it into a one man boat?

Would be a interesting project but a lot of work getting it water ready but it could be done if you are willing to put the money and work into it. You may want to look around at other boats before taking it on.

We have a shop here that repairs jet skis. Every so often they give away a bunch of hulls that weren't worth repairing. The hulls are undamaged, but the motor was shot so they give them away to make room for more.

You need the paper work that goes with hull number!! Game and fish will freak out if you put a motor on it which requires registration numbers!!!!

Just going from memory here, but I used to have a subscription to a magazine called bass and walleye boats. In it the would run like 3-4 part series on fixing up boats. One was a guy who outfitted a jet ski for shallow out of the way places fishing. If I remember correctly, he had built a small deck area onto the rear and had a couple of milk crate storage containers for gear and some PVC rod holders attached like on the back of a kayak. Then had a hand control trolling motor with head turned around mounted to the front with a PVC extension handle for control. Pictures when done showed him fishing it so should be very doable. One thing for sure it ain't going to turn over or sink.

Sorry got off the grid this weekend. Thanks for the responses. This is a retirement project. I was thinking of building a front deck and mount a trolling motor in the back. Wondering the weight of the hull?

I would think most are too unstable to make a decent boat. You can get decent kayak for 2-300 , less for a used one.

I have a poke boat, bass hunter, 1236 john and a 1542 too. This is something to work on after I retire in two months.
