Default thinking of buying a kayak to take on camping trips.

Any advice would be appreciated. Going to using it for fishing and exercise.

Rivers or Lakes? How much gear do you plan to haul (canoes haul more than kayaks). Got a budget in mind?

I suggest you try a few out before making a major purchase. Caney Fork Outfitters carries the full line of Jackson Kayaks (made here in TN). Hook1 in Nashville has Wilderness System and FeelFree brands (imported). Both stores have great staff and can set you up with a few kayaks to test paddle.

I have 2 10 footers, 1 for me with very little tackle. The other with all the extras I'll need.

I would try to stay 12'+ in order to be well behaved, except for a few like the Ride115. Try and paddle as many as you can.

wont carry too much. Sit in or Sit on, which is easier to get in and out of? Getting older and dont move as well as I used to.

Sit on is much easier. But look at the hybrids like Nucanoe as well.

Personal preference after owning several different brands. WS Ride 115 or 135. Sit on. Red. Super stability for staying dry. Never regretted my final choice.
