    Default Anchor trolley...port or starboard?

I'm putting an anchor trolley on my Native 14.5 and I have a quick question. Should I mount it on the port or starboard side? I'm left handed(usually). I write and throw left-handed, but I play golf and bat right handed. I'm left-eye dominate and when I fish, I hold the rod with my left hand and crank with my right...I know, I'm a mess. Anyway, since I hold my rod with my left hand, should I mount it on the starboard side so I can maintain my grip on my rod while re-positioning? That's kind of what I'm thinking, but I just wanted to see if I was missing anything and get a little feedback before I start drilling holes in my canoe.

    Thanks.

My thought on this is to place on casting arm side.... That way, if you want to sit side saddle with legs in water, you would sit with non-casting arm to seat so casting arm will be clear of seat and not casting over "milk crate" and/or other poles. This will leave anchor trolly behind you and not between your legs with anchor and/or stakeout pole in your way...

If I were attaching an anchor trolley to my Ultimate 14.5 I would definitely place it on the right. The reason for that is because I land almost every fish on the left side of my kayak and would not want the anchor line to interfere. The reason I land most of my fish on the left is that I control and handle my fishing rod with my right hand, which leaves my left hand free to land fish.

Thanks for the tips. Those are both things I hadn't considered.

I put one on each side so I can use two anchors to keep me better located on the spot I want to fish.

I will be installing a trolley on my Slayer soon and have been thinking hard about this as well. I am right handed, cast with my right hand, but hold the rod with my left hand when I am reeling. So, landing a fish the rod will be in my left hand. I just got my kayak and have had it out a few times to get a feel for how I want to set it up. I can't say that I land a fish on the same side every time, I'll just land it on whatever side it ends up on when I get it to the boat. Right now I am thinking putting it on the starboard side, that just feels right. But, I hang my stringer off the right side as well and that may cause some tangles. I was going to install a paddle holder on the port side, but I have just been sticking it under the bungees on the bow and that has been working fine.

    Default One on each side

That gives you the most flexibility.

Saw a video on youtube from a fellow in the UK showing how he had rrigged his yak and he had placed two anchor trollets on his yak. The one on the right ran from the seat to the front and the one on the left ran from the seat to the rear. He felt this was the best for the conditioned he fished in.
