    Default Angler 144 Build

    Hey guys,

I mentioned it in my newbie thread, but I got a Future Beach Angler 144 last year. It's my first kayak, but so far I'm really happy with it. I've only been able to take it out to a couple quick places here in West Virginia, but this year I'm planning on spending a lot more time out on the water and doing some upgrades. I found my way to this forum by searching for others that had modified their 144s, and found the thread by NeonMoon and RetiredRR. I figure I'll be trying to do something similar.

Some upgrades this year include a slightly better seat, mounting my fish finder I recently bought, adding some GoPro mounts, making some kind of cart, upgrading the cargo area, adding a trolley system, and whatever else pops up in between.

Nice looking yak, enjoy it and keep posting of the mods as you determine what you want or need. Fish it "as is" a few times before you start modding so you can figure out what will work for you.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Congrats. Like jimp said, go out several times and make mental notes of what you have in mind to modify. Most modifications can be changed at any point, and ideas and
images may change several times before you get the feel your most happy with. Good luck and keep bouncing your ideas off anyone that might have a suggestion. Got lots
of happy kayak fishermen here willing to share.

Thanks Jimp. I believe you're right. I don't want too go two overboard too quickly. The few main needs I know for sure from the couple times I did get to take it out were
    1) The seat. For some reason they decided not to have any padding for the bottom of the seat and the backrest was pretty weak too.
    2) Definitely need a cart because getting it while loaded to the water was rough.
    3) Need a good way to access my tackle box.

google all of you ideas or look for some yak fishing forums, you'll find lots of ideas and tips. Most yakers make a crate to hold their tackle boxes and attach some rod holders to the corners/sides to get the rods out of your way at times, and keep things organized. You've got limited room so make the best of it.
