    Default Kayak Spider Rig

I was wondering if anyone has put a spider rig configuration on their kayak or found the best way to mount 4 rods for trolling. I just bought a Ride 135 (Wilderness Systems Kayak - Ride 135 - FREE SHIPPING) and plan to take it out on Kentucky Lake in the spring for some crappie and would appreciate any tips! I'm planning on getting some Ram Rodholders (RAM Rod Holder 1.5" Ball Mount) and mount them to the Slidetrax rail.

    Thanks for the advice!

Spyderlok (or one of the others) will work fine. You might have to shorten them a little bit but you still want clearance over your legs (easy to get in and out). No need for expensive rams for spider-rigging.

How are you mounting the trolling motor and Electronics?

I'm planning on mounting the Lowrance Elite 4 DSI and my iPhone with Ram Mounts from my slidetrax system or make a table mount out of cutting board that goes across and install mounts to that. I'm gonna use Navionics app on my phone.

As for the trolling, I'll just be using a paddle for now going over some spots I've got in mind.

Go to the Alabama Forum and search for Predator 130 he has Hi-Tek Rod Holders on his Kayak and it is a nice custom set up. Hopefully one day I will get my own set of Hi-Tek Rod holders for my boat.

Thanks for the picture Stymie! Did you create that spider rig yourself or did you buy it somewhere? Could you send me the details? This is the best looking spider rig I've seen on a kayak so far! Also, how long are the poles you're using? Thanks for sharing!

Check out madd frog gear, they make some pretty cool (a bit pricey) but nice/handy/convenient stuff for yaks. I've got some of it on my Ride 115 for rod holder mounting and FF mounting as well. Very easy to put on at the ramp using the slide traxs and those screws. Check out drift master rod holders, can use a small T bar for2 rods or a larger one for 4 rods, well built and sturdy holders. Mount very easily to the madd frog platforms.

Look in this forum for some posts by me and you should find some pics of my set up and others as well. Enjoy
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

The rod holders are HiTeks by Callshy.

The dashboard holding the sideimaging unit came from madd frog ( see jimp comments above ). Even with the extenders, it was too tight to my thighs when I had holders on it. I changed course and moved it to my ankles to hold my fishfinder and had Scott make me some custom HiTeks.

Those rods are 12 feet long, about as long as I dare use with a kayak. I also carry a little 5 1/2 footer that I cast with.

The reels are Eagle Claw's from Grizzly Jig. They cost about $13 each.
