I was going to recommend the transom saver too. I think BPS and Cabelas sells them and probably any local boat dealership. Just don't let them oversell you with one designed for a 200HP 4 stroke. As light as your motor is, the smallest one they make should be fine. I would sure prefer that over taking the motor on and off each time and it does take a lot of stress off the motor and transom.

I was going to say just the opposite from everyone else, I have a 12' v-hull w/ 6hp Yamaha that I have hauled with the motor down and no strap or transom saver for years, without any problems. Don't want to say that this is the best way, just the way I do it.

I wrecked a motor by letting it down while traveling, so purchase a transom
saver. I got mine from Cabela for $79.00 well worth the cost compared a new motor.

I have always just put a good bungee cord arounf the motor and hooked it to the handles on the transom, when my engines in neutral it will not tilt so it seems to ride just fine and not bounce around this way.

it must be a long shaft motor of short trailer. but i would make a transom support like i have on my bigger boat. my small boat;14ft w/9.9 has no issues. i only tilt it in rough terrain especially backing up.
