Later report due to work being crazy but here it is. Made the decision about a week ago (when the weather channel said it was going to be near 50 degrees) to hit the water with a buddy of mine on Wednesday after a short shift at work. He got to my car about 12:30 with 4 dozen minnows and some snacks, I brought the yaks, rods and gear. Loaded up and headed to Lake Elmdale. got to the lake around 1:15 and after a few pics and getting all the rods rigged up with hit the COLD 39 degree water in the search for a few deep spots full of brush. Only one other boat and apparently he knew where the brush was to and was directly over my best spot. Headed a little farther down the lake and hit a few other spots. Not much going on. This is the first time I've ever fished for crappie in the winter (only been crappie fishing for a yr or so) and it wont be the last time but I will watch the weather a little more. All the fish he caught were in 30-35ft of water and on pink jig heads tipped with minnows. I normaly use 6 rods but due to my hands being so cold I only rigged 4 and wouldnt have them in the water all the time. Jigs didnt produce anything. Ended the day with 2 real nice crappie and 4 other 12 inchers. Heres a few pics of my Commander 120 and my buddy in my gf's Tribe.
