That is a boat seat up in the loft............
Been wanting to do this for some time. I had an area of my barn that I use to use as a chicken coop. The room was only assessable from inside the barn. So Saturday I cut a new door and moved my boat inside. This will allow me to make some improvements to the boat before spring.
Here is a picture of my Hillbilly Boat House:
Until this I had been storing the boat upside down on the trailer in the open.

Don't leave anything in it that the mice can make nests in. Also if you throw a tarp over it and set a lid full of mothballs in the boat the smell will keep the critters out. The wiring is the biggest thing to watch. I trie puting mine in my daughters barn and had minor problems with the mice. Just a thought. In Michigan I just tarp them good with two layers so NO moisture gets in and I don't have any problems. You are right though you can't work on your if it's all tarped up. Enjoy your hilbilly boathouse - great name.

Any shelter is better than no shelter and it looks like you have a fine place to keep your boat out of the weather. Good use of that part of the barn. Now take the boards you removed and make you a door.
