    I think if I needed a motor to push a kayak I would just buy a boat!!!!

    I'd use both motors, gas to get out to the spot, and TM for trolling.

    That looked like a mud-motor on that boat, alot heavier than 18 pounds. If I could haul and launch a boat with the bus (already pulling a trailer), I would. That's the sole reason I fish from a Kayak, it's all I can haul. I had a Pro-V. sold it to help fund the bus.

    I fished today (redneck spider-rig holder I made worked like a charm), and while I was on the water I was thinking about the NuCanoe vs Native Ultimate decision. Running on memory, they're near the same cost. The main difference is weight, but regardless, I'm going to need to rig a mechanical way to load either, it's getting harder for me to load/unload my current one (and fortunately it's a good length of time between the 2). So I'd pretty much decided on the NuCanoe. For just a few pounds, I have much more stability, and much easier on motor options, and the more I look at the open floor of the NC (especially the 360* seat), the more I like it. I've even given thought to a 4 wheeled cart to transport from the bus to the water (think Radio Flyer without the bed, only slightly larger/longer), something lightweight, and able to knock-down for storage. Might even be able to roll it right into the water just like backing-in a boat, or at least a portion of it to "float" the weight of the TM battery and whatever motor I'd put on back.

    Now if I only had a wench (not "winch") to pull me around in that!

    I wonder how long that is, and how high. 12' on it may not balance well, and height might make launch difficult, or may even be top-heavy with 200+ pounds on it (at 144" X 41"). I'm thinking a bit longer, and lower-slung (axle wider than boat (drop axle), with frame just a few inches of ground clearance). The other issue would be storage. I don't have anywhere to stow anything near that size while in one piece.

    I'd woke-up early this AM (3:00), and spent some time looking around (on the www) regarding general weight issues/concerns. At 77 pounds, the NuCanoe is only 4 pounds heavier than the 14.5' Native Ultimate I was going to buy, and only 7 pounds heavier than the 12' Slayer. Having a 10" wider beam and the added stability, not to mention the other benefits which I'm looking for, seems like a small (insignificant) amount of additional weight when looked at from that perspective.

    I've started to put pencil to paper and come-up with some solutions to some of the issues I'd be dealing with. Last night I was considering the TM cable steering, and don't know that I would want to be required to keep my legs in a fixed position to steer (foot pedals), and would likely go the stick-steer route I'd mentioned before (along with the motor controls mounted on the stick). Spider-rigging is a hands-free method anyway, and even with 1 hand on the stick, one would be free to snatch a rod out of its holder. Much of the reason I need to get out of a Kayak is for more comfort, and I think the foot-steer would somewhat defeat that, at least where my legs are concerned.

    Plenty of time before I buy, and plenty of time to lay-out options, which is good, I need something to keep me occupied anyway.

    Not to confuse you further, but have you considered a Jackson Big Tuna and mount your trolling motor in the tankwell. Just another option.
    PS Those garden carts come in all kinds of sizes.

    Nah, too many advantages (for me) with the NC. I've already got a decent start on figuring-out some of the stuff I'll need to do, such as loading/unloading on the trailer, and a pretty good basic idea if the cart/trailer (whichever it will resemble closest).

    You (or anyone) ever seen (1st hand) the bassyak TM conversion? From looking at how they did it, I seriously doubt the motor could turn much over 45* in either direction (from straight forward, so 90* total, not 180*). I didn't spend a lot of time on the TM deal, but think I can get it closer to a 90* turn in either direction. Won't be sure about cables and stick until I've become the actual owner of a NC.

    I spent a very uncomfortable day (well, 4 hours this morning) in my FB, I've gotten to the point it's just too hard on me to use, didn't think I was going to be able to get out of it earlier. I've got to so something because I'm not quite ready to become a bank-fisherman just quite yet.

    boy this makes almost no sense but im so intrigued im gonna start riggin one up. i gave away a weedeater that would have been perfect for this 2 years ago. it was a curved shaft that the head was broke. i could have figured out a way to put a tm prop on it. it cranked in one pull and ran very well but the broken part was not fixable. im looking for another now. i can vision my wife giving me one of those eyeroll/headshakes on this. do you really even need to mount it? could you just fire it up and hold the shaft underwater out the side of the yak.

    I'd think it'd be tough to hold it free-hand and control steering. You could cut a slot (slightly wider then the OD of the shaft on the weed whacker) in a piece of plywood to drop the WW shaft down into to allow you to swing it from side to side. If you decided it "worked' and wanted to go a bit fancier, make a plate with a spherical bearing in it (which fit the WW shaft).

    Heck try it and see how it works.
