retiredRR, is talking about plastic welding. If you don't have a kayak shop nearby, try used cars lots. Ask around as they usually have traveling plastic welders coming through to repair bumpers.

My Angler 144 actually had a "disc" of the boat material just loose on the inside of the yak. You could use that as your base material for melting into the hole (plastic welding).

Now that you mentioned it, it was called plactic welding...........and I was shown a job they had done and you could barely tell the welding
had been done. Real neat job. Hadn't thought about a dealership welding plastic bumpers, but it sounds right.

if you search youtube for plastic welding or repairing yaks, etc., you should finds some how to's. I watched a few the other night and seemed kinda interesting, and not all that hard. One video indicated you can get plastic welding rods from the mfr., and the tool(s) from Harbor Freight at a reasonable price. Then it depends on if you're willing to try it, etc.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I'm glad you guys posted that platic welding info. The bottom of this particular yak seems thin compared to my wilderness systems.

You are correct...I should go back and confront the guy, he told me drain plug. I only gave it a quick once over.
Now, just went and took a closer look. Looks likes some rub marks on the sides and the top near the cockpit.

If I could see a photo of the kayak and the hole, it would help to determine if you were hoodwinked or not. Sounds like you were.......
kind of hard to say without seeing the evidence.

i wasnt hoodwinked. he told me about the yak and the hole. it was in back ready to be sent back to the factory, had actually been sold and returned. i now have a machine screw and nut with a rubber washer in it. i saw the you tube vids of plastic welding and might do that later but i only have oxy/accetylene torch and a propane torch and both of those are too hot and i would melt the whole damn thing. the scratches on the yellow one didnt look too bad just not new, i tried to get him down more but he said he would lose $ as opposed to just sending back to manufacturer. i will post pics when i finish my rod holders and cart.

ok, im fishing in the AM and never been in a kayak till i took a 10 min paddle trip an hour ago. im not worried about turning over at all now. it keeps straight, like reveiws ive read its not easy to turn. getting in and out and getting all my gear in will be the task.

Load up the gear in knee deep water, then load yourself. Sit in the middle and paddle easy to start. You will never get a fast
hole shot from a kayak. Enjoy. Fish near where you launch from until your confident in your stability.
