its a cheap tool holder clip that i used to hold the paddle shaft to the yak,

Went to Academy and picked up a few new setups and 4 rod holders. Figured Id give 4 rods a try before moving on to 8. Got the pole holders in place. Didnt drill any holes but I think it'll end up looking a lot like it is. Let me know what you think?

Nice set up! I think that would be great for spider rigging. I may copy off of what you've done.

This weekend I'll try to finish some sort of rough prototype with using two flat horizontal planks to hold the rods versus an actual rod holder. When you see how simple the idea is you may not consider it much of an idea

I'll also try to finish up a prototype of an ultralight "spider rigging paddle". I've decided to go with the butt end of two, two piece medium 7' graphite rods as the paddle handles and then probably 5mm luaun plywood for the paddles, which will attach to the poles much like the other rod section. However if I can find cheap, light ping pong paddles I may just drill a hole through the shaft of them for the rods to insert and be done with it. The two fishing poles will be attached to each other loosely by the reel mount with some sort of connector that I'll improvise and improve on as I go. The whole point here is a paddle that is light enough to be paddled one handed or gripped while holding a rod. I guess a picture will be worth a lot once I cobble it together.

The endless possibilities of fishing from a yak.Thumbs Up Looks tempting to me to try if it werent so expensive to getting started (Yea, I know. WAY cheaper than a bigger boat but I already have that).

Here is something to add to your boat to mount rods to, for those who don't have something built in.

havent had it on the water yet but after setting it up in the front yard it looking like it will be about a foot from the water.

I like mine a little closer to the water, but that should work. the other brand looks adjustable, so you should be able to have all the same height.
