    Mad frog gear has an external "arm" for use with a regular transducer. This allows one to adjust the depth of the transducer.

    shallow 1-2 ft readings could be from interference from the battery, but I would suspect it is from air bubbles since it only happens when you are paddling.

    For a battery, a 8-12 pack of aa works well. Get recharge-able, but one set should easily last all day and are available at Radio Shack:

    RetiredRR;

    Might want to check out palmettokayakfishing.com, some very good rigging articles in the blog portion on a Ride 135 just like your ride. There is one on an external TD mount using the rudder mounting position on the Ride's stern. A neat and clean install imo. GL

    Another question for you RRR;

    How do you transport your Ride 135 from the house to the water? I know those Rides' are heavy and you use a cart, just wondering how you do it??

    Yep, been thinking about a more permanent solution for that issue. I needed to tie the chair down until I could figure out
    just exactly how I would make them more permanent on the plywood. An aluminum bracket is what I've been contemplating
    and the use of wingnuts keeps coming to mind. I want the chair to be stable, yet hinge a little bit so I can tilt the board when
    I want to remove the chair from the kayak. It works very well right now, but while black is better than white electrical ties,
    both are subject to breakage and aluminum angle stock will be much more secure in the long run. Thanks for bringing that
    back to my attention. I have to admit, I find myself sitting down beside the kayak, looking at different things I need to change
    and improve on. The zip ties will be next on my list after I get the ff installed. Picked up my battery and charger this morning
    at Cabela's and am building a holder for it and a strap to tie it to the structual supports under my feet. Spoke with an employee
    there and inquired about the way I had things kind of clustered and was assured if I didn't have anything else producing a signal,
    my sonar unit should not have issues. We shall find out soon.

    jimp, I purchased a small boat trailer and some square tubing (thick wall) and got a cousin with a welder. We're going to configure it to haul 4
    kayaks. Right now I just have a piece of plywood bolted to the trailer with pool noodles strapped on it. O.K. for temporary use, but I have
    bigger plans for the trailer. And, I did do lots of research, even palmettokayakfishing.com and I really liked his TD mount, but opted to go
    with the scupper hole mount. Found out it is trimmable and I'm going to take the transducer off and do a little trimming so it will fit closer
    to the bottom of the kayak. Since it is just a sonar unit, not worried about side imaging. Appreciate your input too.

    This is what I'm aiming for but
    mine will not be so elobrate.

    I won't have the rollers and I will have a solid floor and removable rack, so I can roll my zero-turn mower
    up on it should it need repairs, and I will have a frame for a portable deer blind. The trailer will serve 3 purposes.
    Need to cut down on my toys. Going to sell my 14' ramped low boy trailer. Got tags on too many trailers.

    I hear ya bout too many toys. I have a ZTR for the yard, my WS Pungo 120, and the Tracker PT 175 w/ a 60. Just put a HB 788 ci HD on the bow this summer and then got even more stupid with a HDS 8 w/ structure scan package for the console. Just sold my HD last week as I had not been riding it for the past 2-3 yrs. Still have a small trailer I picked up to haul the HD when needed, but use it more for hauling materials for the "special projects" I find myself doing sometimes. The ZTR will fit on it if it needs to.

    I plan on installing a FF on the Pungo, but it will be one of the old ones I still have out in the shed. Got some thinking to do on the TD install myself.

    How are you going to power your FF ??

    I use one of these to power my game camera and it will last 3 months shooting 3 shot bursts all night long. So far, so good.

    This one is for my FF. Got to find some terminal clamps now and get them on the transducer cable and in line fuse.

    that's what I'm considering as well when I get to it. What type of "tupperware" ya got in mind. I'm thinking of using some MK TM electrical connections, the quick snap together type to make the electrical connections. I know the size of wire is overkill, but it would make for a simple and quick connection.

    Quick and simple is key in my world too. No muss, no fuss.
