    Default Depth Finder Question

Im looking to get a depth finder for my wilderness commander. I've been able to find some crappie here and there without one but I definitly see the need for a good fish finder. Any suggestion on good ones for kayaks?

James, I have a HB Piranha 170 (about $100) in my Kayak (and had it in other boats before the Kayak) and it does all I need (depth, Fish ID, structure). Sure, there's a lot better ones out there, but with a higher price tag. There's a Board (on this site) specifically for FF's, so it might provide you more info. I'd just say buy the best you can while staying within your budget.

Hi B.B.James I just got a H.B. 570 DI and love it. Runs about $279? on Amazon. Not sure about that price, but it's a good F.F. for the $$

Man that 170 looks nice for a kayak. Couldn't find a youtube video on mounting it in a kayak, but did find others.

Made the trip out to Cabela's and looked at what was on display. WOW, choices can be confusing.
GPS or not? K.I.S.S.? That 170 does keep it simple for a non-gadget guy like me. A professional
waited on me and we left with our sides hurting from laughing so much.

Simple is good for me as well. So did you make a purchase? Be interested on hearing your feedback after using it, to see what you think.

Right now I'm having to flip a coin. Heads is for the 170 and tails is for another one with the gps feature. Havin' a difficult time
gettin' the coin to land the way I want it too. Right now I'm just practicing flipping the coin. Rofl

just picked up a HB 170 from academy and while I was there I picked up a minn kota 30 lb thrust trolling motor that I think will be nice to have on the back of my commander if I decide to try and spider rig a little.
