So after I load my Kayak 6-8 times, it's gonna be worn out? Rofl

Nope, but you will start to notice wear spots. Depending on usage, the hull will next start "oil canning". Could be within a year or it could be several years. Just been my experience that most kayak damage is done from the time the boat leaves the water till it returns to the water. If it were my boat, I would not be using carpet. To each there own.

    Was just wonderin'.......
I like using pool noodle and if you placed say....3 strips of pool noodle on the bottom of the
box, slid the kayak into the box on top of the pool noodles, would that cause too much rub?
The kayak bottom would be resting on the three strips of pool noodle while toolin' down the
highway, most of the sand/dirt would be wiped off while sliding into the box, unless of course
you thought about a small sprayer (1 gal) to spray the sand off before sliding into box. But,
I guess you could spray the bottom off before sliding into box over carpet too. I will on
occassion spray my kayak with rainx to help it repel water and sand when wiping it off.
Just a thought. I sit my kayak on pool noodle to haul and I prefer three locations over just
two contact points on the bottom of the kayak. I think it would take a while to notice drag
on the speed of the kayak due to abrasion from sand/dirt, unless you were to ignore the
bottom of the kayak entirely. Anyone that could ignore the bottom of their kayak, should
have one made of kevlar. EXPENSIVE BUT TOUGH. I'd like to know your final decision and
what you experience down the road. If you decide to apply rainx on your kayak, it don't
    take much to work.

The FB Angler is rotomolded, and is right at 1/4" thick. I paid $350 for it, and in 20 years, if I'm still alive, and it's worn-out (not "scratched", I'm talking worn-through) by then, I'll just replace it. I'm not going to worry about scratches, sliding it into a truck bed (or it's new home atop my trailer), or down an embankment into the water, or any other normal handling. I guess that's a plus to not buying a $1500-2000 Kayak. When speed (paddling) becomes such an issue that I need to be concerned with the drag/friction caused by a couple scratches, I'll reconsider going back to a Deep-V Hull and large outboard

Anyway, I think I'm just going to paint the box, been pricing White Herculiner, and not going to invest another $100+ into it. I'll buy a $15-20/gal of oil-based paint and slap 'er on. Hoping to get it painted and mounted next week.

Good luck on it lasting 20 years. I have been paddling kayaks for over 20 years (and fishing from them 15+ years) and those that get treated poorly seldom last longer than 3 years. Just been my experience.

Something for younger folks to worry about. At 70, all you worry about is getting
into the water and on the fish...........LOL If I'm still able to handle lifting and wrestling
the kayak at 75, and still catchin' fish to eat, I'm one happy fisherman.

Well, things have had a couple coats of oil-based paint applied, and the contraption is at least setting on top of the trailer. I have my pieces of threaded rod cut and welded the nuts to the top to discourage "unauthorized" use of my Kayak. I just need to get it bolted down (hoping to do in the AM before it hits 90* again) and make a door for the back which I may incorporate a roller onto to make sliding the Kayak into place easier. I'll add some finished pic once it's completed and a final coat of paint applied.

Yes, there are nice people out there who feel entitled to others belongings. Here's where one of them felt the need to help themselves to whatever was inside my trailer. It has since had alarms added....after they came back a 2nd time to try and finish what they started. The hasp has since had 1/4" of steel added to its thickness.

    Aerodynamics do count.
Ouch! Persistant pests to say the least. Nothing sacred & nothing safe anymore.
Makes you wonder where to draw the line, don't it? Innovate & insure, I guess.

Invest in some infra red game cameras. I picked them up to use for deer hunting, and my friend is now using them to catch a peeping Tom. Don't get the ones with a regular flash as then they will know that their picture was taken, and attempt to destroy the camera.

There are ones that will emit a low red glow , and some that don't even do that. They have come a long way with battery life, and some will last months on a single set of batteries. If you are interested let me know and I'll search out the link of where I bought mine. They had the best deal at the time.

If vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what's baby oil made from?

I pull this behind the bus, so it won't see much wind. I think the bus is 2'-2.5' taller than the top of the Kayak box.

Hoping to get things (the box) bolted down today, and figure-out how I want to make the door and roller. Supposed to have rain the next 2 days, and plan to try to get out and fish Wednesday, so it may have to wait until later in the week.

I've got (4) cameras with NV (which feed into a recorder) on top of the bus, problem was I didn't have them on (they're on 24/7 now). I've since moved the trailer right next to the bus. The 1st attempt to get into my trailer took place on the same night a vehicle was stolen. Everyone here knows who the scumbag was, just can't prove it.
