Took my maiden voyage, no fishing gear other than the FF to see how it worked, and it worked fine. Paddled around a bit just to get the feel of things, and I think my biggest problem will be getting on/off the Kayak (more off than on).

Been kicking-around the anchor situation, and am reconsidering a trolley. I didn't really want to go that route, but feel it'll be a bit less cluttered than the alternatives.

Gonna be a warm sunny week, so one day (this week) I'm going to take it out on it's 1st fishing trip Thumbs Up

    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Piddled-around some more today in attempt to be able to fish from the Kayak in the event dad can't go (we'd take his boat). Because of warmer temps, and if I'd spend a day on the water, in addition to being fortunate enough to catch some keepers, I wanted a small cooler I could put some ice in and toss the keepers into (as opposed to them laying in warm water for hours. Anyway, there wasn't room in the rear well for a cooler plus my minnow bucket, so I built a PVC rack to offset the cooler to the rear, which makes room for the bucket. Neither will be anywhere near "full", and I'll do a bit of testing when they're carrying some cargo (so yes, I'm aware "center of gravity" and all that). I'll come up with something a bit better for bungees in the near future.

I also rigged an anchor trolley, have $15 in it. It may not look the best, but it works smooth.

I'm also going to try my hand at building my own seat. So far I have zero invested, and will just be out the cost of material to cover it. I don't want to add any holes, so I used the 2 existing holes for the seat back to clamp a piece of 2" ratchet strap webbing which will get secured to the bottom of the seat board to keep it from moving forward.

Added some foam, including a bit of contour down the sides of the back

And will re-use the factory seat strap to keep the seat back tilted at the angle I need

I'm going to buy cheap material to cover it, as I plan to replace it this fall/winter....unless I find it comfortable enough to keep, then I'll do something different, including some lumbar support (in the meantime I may add a piece of pool noodle and a bungee).

Had $32 in a yard of Marine Vinyl and can of spray adhesive. Not the prettiest thing but if it's comfortable, that's all I care. The taller back has to help. GOing to add a piece of strap to the seat back, so it can fold down for transport.

I can tell your a tinkerer, and your doing good. Trial & error is the best way
to find out what works and what don't. Like you said, careful with the holes and
where you drill 'em. I like the seat idea, shows your on your way to max comfort.

Appreciate the photos too. You never know who will be inspired by your ideas.

Yep, tinkerer by nature Thumbs Up So far the only holes I've added are for the FF mount, and the anchor trolley, and that's all I plan to do. Only other possible ones might be for seat straps in the event I dislike the one I just made. A little over $30 to be comfortable this summer is cheap enough for me if I end-up replacing it this fall.

I get lots of ideas from others, and sometimes add my own twist, sometimes not. Sometimes there's room for improvement, sometimes not. I like the DIY projects over just buying something (not that there's anything wrong with that), I guess that's where tinkerer and cheapskate meet Rofl

On the pvc holders for the knife and pliers, how did you flatten it? Did you heat it with a torch?

Heat gun then just press into shape with a piece of wood.
