Here's the the spider rig set-up I made today out of scrap plywood, it just slides under the seat and my weight holds it in place. In the extremely unlikely chance I'd take a swim, it'll simply fall out with me, so no chance of it trapping my legs.

jimp- this is especially for you, I'm typing really slow to make it easier for you. It's temporary. (make fun of me will ya)

additional floatation right?? You got a home depot scrap lumber bin in that trailer? Hope it works for ya, and don't fall out of the yak this time either ok.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Something up/down adjustable would have been nice, but wasn't gonna spend too much time on something that will eventually wind-up as campfire kindling. Now I got a place to set my coffee and ashtray. Any less height would make it impossible for me to get seated, but I figured it's better than nothing.

Sometimes hauling around all that crap pays-off....even if it did fold the trailer tongue. $200 trailer repair parts vs $5 in scrap wood and 1/2" CPVC Hope I don't fall out, I'd drag 3 new rods/reels with me, but don't want a bunch of Paracord draped across my lap either. So far only seen one stump in the water, and it was on the upper lake, and 6' out of the water. My luck, it'll shoot through the Spillway with torpedo like accuracy and sink my battleship

Update on my Future Beach Angler.. I love this kayak and used it on 6 overnight camping trips so far. Its hauls tons of gear, food and beer. These pictures were taken back in May. Since then I've added even more gear and I'm always experimenting with ways to pack this little barge.. I wanted a solo boat that could haul all my camping supplies,, paddle easily and I don't think there could be anything better.. Name: 044.jpg

Well since these pictures were taken I've picked up even more camping gear!! I'm using more dry bags that stow inside the hull which keeps less gear strapped to the outside.. The center and rear dry hatches came with these little waterproof pouches.. I pulled them out and gained way more storage space inside.. This kayak is still very stable loaded down with everything tied on the back.. So far every trip I've been on,, all I hear is positive comments from other boaters!! ("Nice set up! or , Wow you guys are camping out! and, How many days are you staying? or " I'll be over for a beer later!) Most boaters are such positive, outgoing people..
