I wouldnt think oars would work very well on one but as far as just fishing out of it, those things are great especially for small bodies of water.

I just went crappie hunting Saturday with a pal. was just about to weigh anchor and the seat flipped back. Over I went into 48 degree water. Lost two 9 ft crappie rods and a box of new jigs and jigheads. It was cold and 14 feet deep. Thank God I can swim. He has a Raider. My thought is and has always been that they need a lock for the seat brackets and now I know why. I suggest conduit clamps and metal screws from your local hardware. $4-6 is a lot less costly than some fishin' buddy bringing a lawsuit over lost tackle or even a drowning. Now he wants me to shell out $125 for a new seat and bracket that was lost in an accident. Needless to say I will be fishing from my own 12 ft jon from now on.

I loaned my Bass Hunter - Baby Bass to my brother in law and the same thing happened to him. I bought some brass tubing about two feet long and slide/epoxied them on the bottom of the seat legs (the part that lays flat on the boat). The extra length lets you lean back without tipping over.

I've fished out of my Bass Raider 10 for a lot of years and never come close to that. The flat runners on the seat frame is 24 inches long. Just went out and tried to flip on over. Couldn't do it. The seat that I just tried has been raised 6 inches to accomodate my sons bad back. Sounds like your bud has shortened the runners to allow more space. And $125 is quite steep for a seat and frame. Frames are only $37.50.
