Smile 1st time in a Kayak!

This past October was the first time I fished in one and produced one of the best crappie fishing for me in the last 20 years! 3 of us went to a local pond, I borrowed my friend's kayak and my other two buddies fished from shore. I new the crappies were out in the middle of the pond, about 50 yards from shore, and when I got out there it was non stop action. Stayed out there for 5 hours(had to pee after the 3rd hour but held it) and came in to shore with 25 crappies 12 inches to 14 and 1/2 inches and released about 25 decent perch and bluegill and 1 largemouth bass that was 22 inches long. My buddies jaws dropped, that were fishing from shore, when they saw the stringer of crappies. They caught all perch, about 30 total. This spring I'll be getting my own Kayak.

Hey, welcome to the site! Great to hear that you learned that sometimes it's a huge advantage to be able to get on the water! Even better, the kayak allows such a stealthy approach, especially on smaller lakes and ponds.

purplelab don't think kayak fishing is restricted to only small farm ponds. I fish my kayak in some of the large reservoirs in Arkansas and Mississippi.

Nice...Funny cause that is what I tell my friend when we do not catch fish from shore...gota find the fish before you can catch em and shore fishing really limits that in most places.

Some of the crappie and the bass I released that day(the green on the bass' tail is the reflection of the kayak).

Wow that's pretty sweet can not wait to get a kayak. What kind are you looking at? I was checking out the Moken 10 which I could only find at Austin Kayak's. The big stores seem to only carry a brand or 2.

yellowjacket, all the fish came on a 2 inch plastic Lindy Little Joe even the bass.

crappiebeast69 I borrowed my friends Kayak, he got the cheapest one up at Dick's last spring. On sale I think he paid $200.00. I was looking at the Malibu Mini online but the nearest Dist. is about 200 miles away.
