Wow now that is funny, looks like most of these yaks are sit in, and every time I ask someone about which style is best they swear by sit on? Now I'm really confused! Either way looks like some decent setups, guess I will continue my poll. If yo got anymoe pics put them up there.

bfish I appreciate that advice, the pamlico has such a huge open cockpit that a small deck up front ought to be ok. It looks like in froggy's pic that his knees are still in open air, even with the deck. It's something I'll be looking into. Is that a flexible cutting board froggy? I can't quite tell how it's mounted, do you have it bolted on?

I got a Scotty's rodmaster in the mail, along with a $2 hanging cup holder. The cup holder is pretty cool, fits perfectly on the edge of the cockpit of the pamlico- feels very secure, and should be really handy for holding my pliers and other small random items besides drinks. http://www.austinkayak.com/products/...up-Holder.html Now I need to make a trip to the hardware store and find some mounting hardware. Still trying to think of what would best distribute the load of the holder, may have a friend machine a plate to put under it and try to put some sort of rubber between that and the hull. Just worried I'll bang a holder against something and crack/bend the deck. Doesn't seem to be a problem though, looking at how everyone else has mounted there holders.

mb, I think there is a Hobie in my future, just not sure if it will come 10 or 20 years from now when I get enough saved for one.

Thanks again for all the help/suggestions. Most people I fish with talk about how to get an extra 2 mph out of their 90 horse motors, not where to mount a rod holder so it doesn't get in the way of their paddle.

it is semi flexible its 1/4" thic i can bend it but its tough i used 1/4"x 20 stainless bolts and large fender washers to bolt it down i use my yak to cat fish also and been worried about fish flipping the yak but not breaking it (flipping? yes 6ft heavy action rod @ a 90 degree angle to boat and large fish when it strikes he has alot of leverage make sure to losen ur drag if your in that situation so you do not lose your tackle ) i have seen my gunnels flex but never been worried about a break on the rod holder or the yak
