2KZ,Hard points are indeed the biggest challenge. I bought some 1/2" Starboard poly marine board and plan to make 4" x 12" strap-on "gunnels" for the Scotty mounts etc. The cutting board is more of a test bed. My biggest concern is the strength of the cleats/eyes for trolling since they are glued on.The Mirage drive Hobies make trolling a breeze. Unfortunately they also prevent a cross-boat dashboard type solution like yours on the inflatables. Are you using the name brand transducer suction mount, or did you make one (if so, how)? I'm definitely thinking of switching to a suction cup mount as it frees the side for the anchor trolley.

I have the Hummingbird Pirhanamax 160 Portable, so it came with a suction cup transducer. I wouldn't imagine that MAKING one would be that hard, just make sure the suction cup sticks to the surface before you invest too much time into it. It sticks fine to the Seaeagle kayak, but I still have to fabricate something for the Intex raft that is pictured earlier in the thread. The surface is a little rougher and it won't hold on that one.

One thing I might suggest too, especially if you plan on suction cupping to the rudder. Make sure it will stay on while you are moving, I'd think it would be hard to put back on when you are on the water and it is waaaay back (and under) there!
