Crappie are on the banks. This morning, (10-11am) caught at least 30 black crappie from the West side jetties. Unfortunately, all 8-9 inches. Caught with of white twist tails and chart/blk/chart hand tied jigs. Some of the males are even taking on spawning color. Very windy this morning 25+ gusts. Happy to be fishing from the bank as this little lake was white capping
Even though the fish were small, this would be a great lake to take a kid and introduce them to fishing. I was catching crappie on 2 out of 3 casts and even though small, put up a good fight

If Douglas is underfished may need to eat some of them 9 inchers.

If the piers are loaded, the dam will be too.
Douglas is a nice lake, but it's not underfished at all. There's just so many of those smaller fish and either people are unwilling to harvest them, or not enough people are keeping them. It needs a lot of crappie and small bass removed. There's a slot limit on bass, so toss 5 of those 12" largemouth in the livewell with the crappie and eat them too.

I would help thin the crappie out but too far away for me.
