Are you saying you are going to buy a home in Kansas?
We're thinking about a place in Kansas Or Missouri for late spring, summer, fall. I live on the Mexican border in south Texas now.
Is there any good fishing lakes in east KS (east of I35) during that time? I would like to locate within 30-45 min. drive of 2-3 good lakes. Not asking for anyone's honey hole...just lake or river info.
Haven't fished much in the last 3 yrs...but when we lived in Baton Rouge I was in the bayou 2-3 days a week!
Thanks!

Looking at eastern Kansas or western Missouri. Kids and grandkids in KC, Lawrence, Tulsa...we want to be within about 3 hrs. drive for any of them to come down or us to go see them.
Around TOPEKA you have enough lakes to keep you busy. Truman lake in Missouri has enough to keep you busy for years. If you're after crappie then your covered. If you want other fish I am not much help. Truman is about a hour (south east) from Kansas city. Perry, Pomona, Melvern, milford, Clinton, and others are around a Topeka. so a lot of them are a hour west of Kansas city.

I really like Southern Missouri but I understand that leaves a long drive to KC. Just across the border in Arkansas you have some of the prettiest streams in the country. The lakes have great fishing as well. If you are looking for a good paying job that changes the choices a lot.
Let us know what you decide.
Ft Scott city lake is just south of town and is a nice stocked city lake. Just south about 30 min. is Bone creek lake and is also a small great fishing lake. They all have crappie bass and catfish. Gun Park in Ft Scott is stocked with trout from November to March and has trout up to 6 lbs. It is close to KC but a lot further to Tulsa. There is also a heated lake between Ft Scott and KC that is a very good lake. East of FT Scott a ways in Missouri is Stockton lake that is a good fishing lake. My mom owns a house in Ft Scott and she would love to sell it. . The Wichita area is about half way in between KC and Tulsa and has several good lakes with Walleye, Crappie, Blue cat, Small mouth and Large mouth bass also. There are several very good lakes that you drive by going either way out of Wichita. hope you are successful in your search and let us know when you are up this way and maybe we can get together and show you around and do a fishing trip locally. Good Luck

Heck move to Ottawa. You’ve got Hillsdale, Pomona, Melvern, CCL, Lacygne, John Redmond, and Clinton pretty darn close. Perry not too far away. Puts you close to Lawrence and KC but a little further to Tulsa.
