Just in time to add you in.
Went out with a buddy and my son for a few hours before the party brigade came out. Could not ask for better fishing weather with overcast skies, flat calm, and cool. Immediately got on the shorts on top of piles. Better quality came off of piles in 12-14ft. BG baby shad in shimmer shad and 1.5" purple/chart tube worked best for me. Started morning tipping jig with minnows, but didn't bother with minnows as the jig bite got better. Water was a bit cooler 77* and murkier from the rains (Fri was 83* and stained). Lots of dink action with a few decent keepers.

Very nice man! I'll have to pick your brain one day on the pile locations. Just about got my little jon boat ready for action.

Most definitely! I find most piles by plain dumb luck, navigating to and from previously way-pointed piles. Good luck with your jon boat. I fished out of a 14' jon previously, and had no issues putting fish in at Perry. Just have to be mindful of strong winds and pleasure traffic.
I'm thinking staying close to the ramp, at least at first. I had this jon boat out in the water a few times at El Dorado. But once the big boys came in and chopped the water up, I was out. Lol
