I read a lot of reports from the reservoirs across the state and wonder how many like the peace and ease of fishing the state fishing lakes in Kansas. I have always enjoyed putting the boat on Wilson Reservoir, but most of my good fishing has been on several state fishing lakes. No wake rules, fishing boats only, and no jet skis: I find this kind of environment more pleasing for easing around a body of water and fishing.
I realize that for crappie numbers and size structure to reach optimum potential, a bigger body of water is necessary, but I find it more relaxing to fish these lakes, versus finding a quite spot on a big reservoir. Am I alone, or do most just keep their secret spots quiet?
