Default Hooking the boat and going to clinton or perry 8/17 at 1:00 pm

The weather looks nice today with not a lot of sun. So hooking the boat, taking the lil guy and a friend. Not sure which lake we'll hit up.

Will try to get some crappie in the trees then maybe troll around to see if we can find the white bass "explosions" that were talked about on here a couple weeks ago.

Hooked and about to leave. I think we're going to try Perry. The reports on Clinton look a little blah.....

I fished Perry Thursday afternoon and caught plenty of plump small crappies but keepers were hard to come by for me, gave up and threw the cast net for shad and went looking for the white bass. Caught a whole bunch with well over 2/3 of them nice respectable fish. If you are catching dink whites use your graph to find another school. They were hugging the bottom and easy to spot on sonar if you know what you are looking for. If you check this post while on the boat try looking in the southeast corner of the dam area 12 to 20 ft. Never saw any surface action but shad are everywhere.

Shad were everywhere. My fish finder sucks but there were fish all hugging the bottom on the lake anywhere from 10 to 30ft of water. Cast net a bunch of shad but couldn't get anything to bite off the bottom.

Got 5 crappie with 3 being keepers. Couple off the rock wall right outside the marina and then one by the dam hanging out around 12ft. Tried every color and white was the best bite for us.
Managed to hit 2 small dink white bass probably pushing a good 3 to 4 long.

Still had a good time. Lil man had fun reeling in those monster white bass and he was really good on the water. Managed to snap on 3 lift jackets and still move around. A kid. A medium and an adult jacket. Funniest thing of the day for me.
