    Default Milford 5/17/14

    ................................................

    That's the report! lol

Fished the West Rolling Hills area, Indian Point, then up to the dam in some coves and couldn't find one slab. Caught a little 4" Smallie on my first cast with a minnow and that was all for the day.

Anybody else having a helluva time this year? We can't seem to find crappie no matter where we go. (Bennington, Marion (some males, no females), Lakewood, etc.) Seems like the spawn ain't on yet but also seems pretty late to be going now. Maybe things will turn around this week and weekend with some warmer weather warming up the lakes?

I'd have to say we are at the tail end of the spawn, although there will probably be a few stragglers caught thru the first week of June. Jmo

i think it depends on what lake you're fishing. I know Marion Co. hasn't spawned yet but they've gotta be really close. Some of the lakes in SE part of the state spawned like 3 weeks ago. Gonna go out for Walleye at Kanop tonight since the Crappie can't seem to get their ish together

Did you try the deeper 10 ft of water area? The crappie in most lakes this year are spawning a little deeper than normal because of the water clarity.
It's not duck season so I have to do something... :D

I was up in Farnum Creek that day, with not much crappie action either. Springhill Duckman is right, I caught most out in 10-12 feet near the bottom. The water was a little more stained than 2 weekends ago, but still very clear. Thanks for the report. Brad

They haven't spawned at the Glen yet.

Only crappie we caught at Milford this weekend was 15 feet and that was while we were bottom bouncing for walleye. Fishing was pretty slow over memorial weekend but still managed to put some walleye in the live well and one crappie.
