    Default Coffey Co 2/13

Got out with a friend Thursday on Coffey County. First boat on the water and only 2 other boats showed up before we left around 3:30. Weather was nice and the fishing was great. We were mostly after bass but we took a break from them to try to get my buddy some crappie for dinner. Took about 20 minutes to get our limits of 13+ inch crappie 3" Berkley power minnow on a 1/16oz head in about 10' of water, tight lined next to standing timber was all it took. Water temp was 60 at the outlet, 51 in the trees we were fishing.

5 a person over 12", used to be 2 a person over 14", I liked it better when it was the 14" length limit.

Went on Sunday and caught lots of LMB and SMB. Ended up with a couple nice crappies in the trees. Whites were up by the bridge. Over all a good day with a total count of 95. It was cool with the wind out of the NE.

Did you find the crappie to be really thin? If so, were the other fish skinny as well? The crappie we were catching on the south side were really thin, small fillets for the larger fish.

The crappie and bass were all very thick and healthy looking. I didn't take any pictures of the crappie, my buddy had already laid claim to them as soon as we got home and you just don't try to take a bone away from a pitbull Most all the bass were built like this one though
